15 Months

...
Monet at 15 months is busier than ever. She never seems to hold still. She's always alert.
She is really talking. She'll say (or at least try to say) almost anything you ask.
My favorite words of hers are: Elmo, Papa, Lamb, Baby, Shoes, Horse, Turtle, Cuddle, Sunshine, Sadie, Ruff Ruff, Duck, Chloe, Binky, Chair, Bye Bye, Balloon. She just learned "no" and it's pretty adorable.
She loves animals. Especially my parents lab Sadie.
She likes to go down the slide at the park.
She gives hugs now, much more often than kisses.
She likes to shop and pull the clothes off the hanger, especially at Baby Gap where they are her same height.
She points out every ones shoes, even people we don't know.
Chloe taught her how to skip, so she walks around and lifts one leg up like she's marching.
She eats so much fruit. Bananas, watermelon and strawberries are her favorite.
She still loves Elmo and Yo Gabba Gabba, we just bought some Disney movies to hopefully mix it up (for our sanity).
She's still tiny, she seems tall to me but her 3 to 6 months leggings still fit.
She loves balls. She carried a football around for about a week.
She waves hello and goodbye to anyone and anything...all day long.
She likes to brush her teeth. She loves her fluoride pill.
As you can see in the last photo, she makes such funny faces. She rolls her eyes and scowls, she smiles and puckers her lips.
Whenever she has a blanket, or anything that resembles a blanket she puts it on the floor, bends down, lays her head on the blanket and says "night night." Then we all have to say "Shhh." It's a game that goes on and on.
She opens her shutters in the morning and says, "Sunshine."
She likes to dance and do headstands.
She likes to sing the "Wheels on the Bus" song.
She likes to read books with animals.
...
She is sweet
And adorable.
She makes us laugh.
And I love every second with her.

What does the rest of the family do while Larry is suffering in a Colorado hospital, and while Becky and Riley drive 7 hours to the rescue?
...
We go to the zoo!
...
It was about 100 degrees, which I think scared the crowds away so it was pretty calm.
Monet and the monkeys. Zuri the new baby elephant.

Wyatt & Lindsay.
The Carousal was her favorite. Grant got dizzy while Chloe snapped photos.
She wasn't really smiling, just confused and content.

Did I mention that is was hot!
Lindsay bought Monet DipnDots and she ate the entire thing.

Chloe bought Monet this elephant, with Grants money.
She was exhausted by the end of the day.
In honor of Grant, "We zooed it."
...
Then to top Monet's day we fed her BBQed hot dog, watermelon and pickles, her three favorite things.

I love that when I come home, this is the first thing that I see. Yes, Monet has a backpack she likes to carry around. It usually has a few diapers, a binky and a stuffed animal inside. And that's her Elmo that she likes having close. It's funny because she has an adorable baby doll and a cute Piglet and other toys, but it's always Elmo that she wants to bring. And those are her Saltwater shoes that will get probably a million uses by the time summer is over.
I also love coming home to my new mudroom chandelier.

The little one is getting molars and it's not fun. We've been cuddling, watching 'elmo in grouchland', and drinking smoothies. Oh, and staying up all night.

I tried a new cookie recipe today. They have peanut butter, honey, chocolate chips. They're gooey and rich. I think they'd be yummy served with vanilla ice cream.
...
I think you should give them a try.
...
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chunky peanut butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 Tbsp. honey
1 lg egg
1 tsp. vanilla
5 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
350 degrees 10 min
I used gluten free flour and they turned out good so I bet they'll be even better with the real stuff.

We spent the 4th in Zions again this year. Me, Grant, Chloe and Monet went a day early.

(We bought Monet a forward facing car seat just in time. She was happy taking up the entire backseat. ) Zions is amazing. It is so hot which felt so good. The scenery is unbelievable. The place we stay is so fun. And surprisingly there are tons of awesome restaurants. My dads side of the family was there also. 4th of July night we went to this yummy restaurant and had BBQ out on the porch. We had 32 people in all.
One morning some of us attempted to hike Angels Landing. (I wasn't really sure how far Monet would last.)

In the morning when we got on the bus I didn't realize how cold the canyon would be. Poor little thing was freezing, so we put Grants shirt on her. We all got a laugh out of this for awhile.

What I saw of Angels Landing was pretty amazing.

Grant carrying the baby backpack with no baby. Poor Monet was extremely tired from the night before, and then waking her up at 6am to go on a cold hike wasn't her cup of tea that day. She was exhausted. She didn't want to get near the backpack. So she was carried the whole way.

Grant, my mom and dad.
Riley and Monet on a cliff.

At one point Monet decided that was enough, so Grant and I turned around. My dad, mom, Riley and Chloe went on to do the whole thing.

Right as we started down she fells asleep in my arms... so I carried her like this the whole way down. It was about an hour and a half, hiking, bus riding, all the way back to the hotel. My arm was spasming. But I didn't want to disrupt her, so I took the pain. (!)

We had lots of pool time.

We ate out a lot. The last night Grant left to go play golf in Tahoe so I was solo. Monet was extra busy that night, so we let her bring the plastic fruit from the lobby into the restaurant, back and forth about a dozen times. Single parenting is not easy.

The last morning we went on a casual hike to this waterfall. I love Zions because there are endless things to see.
My mom and Monet.
Not a lot of great pictures from the trip, but it was lots of fun.
